Late in Life Productions, LLC
Specializing in theater productions that feature the senior experience
Late in Life Productions specializes in theater productions that feature the senior experience. Our community, our country, our world is aging. Yet we rarely, with some prominent exceptions (Gypsy, The Gin Game, Sunshine Boys, On Golden Pond), see plays and shows that feature the particular struggles and celebrations of older adulthood. Widowhood, worsening disability, forced retirement, illness and death all deserve to be brought into the spotlight. As do “grandparenthood”, second careers, new later in life relationships, unforced retirement, and other joyous milestones for seniors.
Late in Life Productions was formed originally to produce an original play about later in life romance followed by tragic illness. But already, we have seen proposals for other shows for and about seniors.
We are currently collecting donations to produce our first play “Shadows Doth Make Bright” by Ethan Fried. Our goal is $20,000 of which we currently have 11%.
If you would like to support theater for and about seniors, please use the donation window below. AND AGE WELL!!
Greetings and welcome to the Late In Life Productions community. We are currently 11% of the way to our goal in getting "Shadows Doth Make Bright" on its feet. Two theater companies are considering having a staged reading or a table read of the play and we have also reached out to a local playwright who regularly features work at a regional theater on Long Island to help us raise funds and establish our production at that theater.

We are expecting a shipment of lawn signs featuring a QR code that will lead directly to the Late In Life Productions donation page.
But the most exciting news is that we have started on a second project. The new play is tentatively titled "The Cure". In it we will meet Dr. Josh Goldmacher, an internist who encounters a new patient, Ms. Barrymore, whose roundabout conversational style and lack of logical complaints will frustrate the doctor even as she charms her way into his life making his view of the role of the physician start to evolve. Dr. Goldmacher does nothing for Ms. Barrymore because her constellation of ailments add up to nothing. Meanwhile, Josh's mother is starting to deteriorate cognitively. The parallels between Josh's impotence related to helping his mom's real illness and Ms. Barrymore's steadfast confidence in him despite that he is not really doing anything for her at all will make for good theater and a provocative view of western medicine. Stay tuned for more updates.
